Who Benefits From This Course
Any gardener who works in the domestic, commercial or landscaping environment.
(We also offer an advanced design course for domestic gardeners, usually held on demand once a year. Please enquire about this course with our office)
Outcome
Students are energised and inspired by this course. Employers always comment on the marked difference of their gardener’s behaviour once he/she returns to work after attending this course. The students also interact with other like-minded gardeners and they get to share their frustrations and problems with their work in a regulated environment.
Content
Theory :
Soils - soil analysis, composition, repair and maintenance
Making and using compost and mulch;
Understanding and using fertilisers (organic and inorganic);
Tools and their care;
Planting techniques;
Pruning;
Lawn establishment and care;
Practical :
At each course we strip, prepare, design and plant a different section of garden, utilising every aspect of the theory they have learnt so that the trainers can assess the skill of the student.
Some design is also touched upon as we redo a section of garden for each practical session.
We also have a nursery at our disposal where the students learn more about plants, their form and texture, their use in the decorative sense as well as their medicinal uses.
Each participant in this course is presented with a beautiful Certificate of Attendance.
